Congratulations to Bochman and Schwacha for finding in vitro conditions under which the complete MCM2-7 complex is active as a helicase. The danger, of course, is that most people in the field (including me) were confident that the intact complex would prove to be active under appropriate conditions in vitro. For this reason, we may neglect to ask the important question: is finding the expected activity sufficient to prove that the MCM2-7 complex can be active as a helicase in vivo?
